Debbie VanLiew

Board Director: Debbie VanLiew

After 20+ years working in the telecommunications industry, Debbie VanLiew went back to school to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. After teaching for 10 years, Debbie went on to pursue her Master of Science Degree in Educational Administration along with her Administrative Service Credential.

Debbie has worked for Rocklin Unified School District since 2003. During this time, she has served as a kindergarten and first grade teacher at Parker Whitney Elementary School, a Common Core Team Leader for the district, Coach/Mentor/Trainer to staff, and Designated Administrator. As chair of the school’s strategic planning process, Debbie engaged community members, parents, and staff in developing a road map that will guide members of the school community over the next several years as Common Core and Twenty-first Century Teaching and Learning expectations are fully implemented. Additionally, she has been an instrumental part of her school site’s instructional leadership team; resulting in significant gains in improving student achievement, especially for children of poverty and non-English speaking learners. Debbie also served as Teacher in Charge for Rocklin Unified School District’s 2016 Summer School program, located on Rocklin High School’s campus.
